What is being sold

A question bank for one named Ontario BCIN qualification examination. Every question is written by BCINprep for the 2024 Ontario Building Code, and every answer prints the code provision it comes from, with the reasoning behind it. Each bank also includes two complete 70 question mock papers against a three hour clock. Buying is a one time fee for that bank. There is no subscription, no renewal, and nothing recurs.

We are independent of the exam authorities

BCINprep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected in any way to Humber College or Humber Polytechnic, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Ontario Building Officials Association, or any other body that sets, administers or marks a BCIN qualification examination. We are not an examination authority and we do not register anyone, book anyone a sitting, or record anyone's result.

Our questions are original practice material. They are not real examination questions. We have no access to any examination paper, question pool or marking key, and nothing we sell is drawn from one. Sitting our papers is practice, not the examination.

You bring your own copy of the code

We sell practice questions, not the Building Code. The Building Code Act, 1992 and the 2024 Building Code Compendium are published by others and are not included in what you buy, and we do not reproduce their text at scale. Our answers cite provisions by number so that you can look each one up in your own copy. You are responsible for obtaining and bringing the copy of the compendium you are permitted to use in your sitting.

The licence you get

When you buy a bank you get a personal, non exclusive, non transferable licence to use it for your own examination preparation, on any device you use yourself, for as long as you like. The licence does not expire.

The questions, explanations and papers are our original work and remain our property. If you need copies for several people, write to us and we will quote it properly.

Question accuracy

Our commitment on accuracy, and the process behind it, is published in full at how we verify. That page is the statement we stand behind; nothing here adds to it or claims more than it does. Every question carries a report button. Reports get read, and a confirmed error is corrected in the next bank update.

Practice material is preparation, not a prediction. Your examination is set and marked by the examination authority, and we do not promise any result.

Pre purchase disclosure

Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 and O. Reg. 17/05 require a supplier to disclose specified information to you before you enter into an internet agreement. This is that disclosure. It is also linked from the footer of every page, so it is available before you reach the payment step, and this page can be saved or printed.

What we are required to tell you before you buy, in one place.
Supplier Qordova Inc., carrying on business as BCINprep. Qordova Inc. is the legal entity you are contracting with; BCINprep is the name it trades under, the name on this site, and what appears on your card statement, as BCINPREP.
How to reach us Suite 820, 2735 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg MB R3T 6K5, Canada. Telephone (648) 549-3473. Email support@bcinprep.ca. We have no fax.
What you receive A licence to one or more BCIN practice question banks, each containing original practice questions with answers, reasoning and code citations, plus two complete 70 question mock papers. Nothing physical is shipped.
Technical requirements A current desktop or mobile web browser with JavaScript and local storage enabled, and an internet connection to sign in and to download a bank the first time. Once a bank has downloaded it runs offline in that browser. You need an email address you can receive mail at, because that is how access is delivered.
Prices Each exam is listed at its own price on the catalog, from $109 to $149. Take two or more exams and every one of them is $99. The itemised price of each exam you have selected, and the total, are shown in the cart and again on the Stripe payment page before you pay.
Taxes and additional charges Applicable Canadian sales tax is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay. There are no shipping charges, no customs duties, no brokerage fees, no handling fees and no other additional charges of any kind, because nothing is shipped.
Total payable The total, including tax, is shown on the payment page before you confirm. It is a single payment. There are no periodic payments, no instalments and no renewals.
Payment terms and methods Payment in full at the time of purchase, by credit card through Stripe, our payment processor. Visa, Mastercard and American Express. No card details are collected or held by us.
When performance happens Immediately. Access is granted as soon as your payment is confirmed, which is normally within seconds. There is no ongoing performance and nothing is scheduled for a later date. Access does not expire, so there is no completion date.
How it is delivered Electronically, in two ways at once: a licence key is emailed to the address you give at checkout, and the same purchase can be opened by signing in at the study app with that email address. No carrier is involved and no delivery charge applies.
Who performs the service BCINprep, through this website. Nobody performs it on our behalf. Payment processing is performed by Stripe and email delivery by Resend, which are the only parts of the transaction we do not carry out ourselves.
Cancellation, returns, exchanges and refunds We do not offer any discretionary cancellation, return, exchange or refund right beyond the rights the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 gives you, which are described in your rights under Ontario law below and which apply whatever this page says. A free 12 question quiz drawn from the same banks is open to anyone with no email required, so the questions can be judged before any money is spent.
Trade inNone. We do not take trade ins and no trade in allowance applies.
CurrencyAll amounts are in Canadian dollars.
Other restrictions and conditions The licence is personal, non transferable and for your own examination preparation, as set out under the licence you get. You supply your own copy of the code compendium. One licence covers one person. The questions may not be redistributed or used to build a competing product.

Your rights under Ontario law

Nothing on this page reduces the rights Ontario law gives you. Under section 7 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2002, the substantive and procedural rights it gives a consumer apply despite any agreement or waiver to the contrary. So if anything here ever appeared to take one of those rights away, the Act wins and the wording does not.

Two of those rights matter directly to an online purchase like this one. You may cancel an internet agreement within seven days of receiving your copy of it if the supplier did not make the disclosure the Act requires before you bought, or did not give you an express opportunity to accept or decline the agreement and to correct errors immediately before entering into it. You may cancel within thirty days of buying if the supplier does not deliver a copy of the agreement as required. The Act also deems services supplied under a consumer agreement to be of a reasonably acceptable quality, and that warranty cannot be waived.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@bcinprep.ca saying what you want to cancel and why. We will act on it within the time the Act requires. If you want to read the law itself, the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 and O. Reg. 17/05 are published free by the Government of Ontario.

Using the site and the app

Use the site for your own preparation and do not interfere with it: no scraping, no automated bulk downloading, no attempt to circumvent the licensing, and no attempt to reach a bank you have not bought. Your progress records belong to you and you can delete them yourself at any time; see the privacy policy for how.

We may suspend access where a licence is being shared or redistributed, which is the only ground on which we withdraw access to something that has been paid for.

Availability and change

We keep the site running and keep your purchases reachable, but no website is guaranteed to be available every minute. Once a bank has been downloaded it keeps working in that browser without us. Keep the licence key from your purchase email as your independent record of what you bought.

Every update to a bank you own through the 2024 code cycle is included at no further cost. We may change these terms for future purchases; the effective date at the top tells you which version you are reading, and a change never applies backwards to a purchase already made.

Liability

We take responsibility for the accuracy commitment we publish and for the licence we sell. What we cannot take responsibility for is your examination result, which is set and marked by an authority we have nothing to do with, or for decisions taken in professional practice on the strength of practice material. Practice questions are study aids and are not code advice, legal advice or engineering advice. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply in it, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction. If you live in another province, this does not take away any right your own province's consumer legislation gives you.
